Lemon juice does NOT structurally "strengthen" nails. The Vitamin C in it cannot be absorbed through the nail plate in meaningful amounts. The whitening and cuticle-softening benefits are real, but the strengthening claims are mostly anecdotal.
Applying lemon or lime on skin/nails then going into sunlight can cause streaky rashes, burns, and pigmentation. Never go into sunlight after a citrus nail treatment. Rinse thoroughly. Apply sunscreen.
